Marco’s Pepper Grill (MPG) is a Houston-based Food Truck and Restaurant concept that specializes in Multicultural menu items. The goal of our efforts is to educate and inspire our customers about food and culture. We’ve seen our efforts bring all walks of life to eat at one place to experience multiple cuisines.
We are a veteran-led and black owned business that is owned and operated by a trained professional chef who knows the difference between quality and casual food. Instead, our chef has an innovative approach by bringing fast quality-casual food to the market.
Each dish from MPG is prepared to order, so our guest can expect fresh and hot food that is deliverable and cater ready for guests who want to accommodate events and small gatherings.
We build community relationships in effort to not only operate successfully, but to be a part of the community, from charitable donations to teacher appreciation week, etc. As a small business, we pride ourselves on pleasing our customers and pledge to make each customer our No. 1 priority.
Marcus Flakes founded Marco's Pepper Grill in 2012. He has a 15+ year career experience in food science, food safety, cuilinary arts, capital budgeting, and health, safety, and environment. His deep and broad experience is a testament to his senior level exposure that began as a U.S. Military Troop, which define and support Mr. Flakes' capabilities as a veteran entrepreneur.
Mr. Flakes' professional federal career began during his appointment as the State of California Food Program Manager for the Adjutant General's Office. As the subject matter expert on food for the Deputy Chief of Staff of Logistics, he was responsible for 250 National Guard unit's subsistence, field training and inspection programs.
Mr. Flakes then moved back to Houston, Texas where he has been a native resident since birth. He was then hired as the Budget Analyst and Cooperative Agreements Manager for the State of Texas and U.S. Air Force at Ellington Field.
Mr. Flakes reopened Marco's Pepper Grill as his retirement investment and with support of his family and peers in the community he would be confirmed as one of the most influential chefs in Houston. Marcus possesses a Bachelor of Science in Culinary Management, Master's in Public Health degree, and a Post Graduate degree in Nonprofit Management. He continues to utilize his academics and professional experience in his small business to build a brand that people will deem as a household restaurant brand.
